About the APWS
In April 1987, Carole Strother formed "Precious Moments"; and opened her first shop in West Kirby. During the preliminary year, she advertised a lot, but as the years went by, found that due to recommendations from her customers the need to advertise had become less.
Through the course of clients choosing their wedding stationery and wedding invitations, Carole always showed an interest in her customers' wedding plans, and would ask them to bring their photographs in after their wedding. This enabled her to find out more about the wedding services on the Wirral. Carole's customers would give an honest opinion of the companies they used and this gave her a valuable picture of the businesses and how hard it was to create the perfect wedding in the perfect place and with the perfect services.
From booking the cars, to buying the dress it was obvious that planning a wedding was a daunting task, but hopefully not any more.
It appeared that certain businesses stood out from others due to their excellent service and when customers were telling her about the same wedding photographers, cars, cakes, wedding dresses, jewellers, etc., Carole decided to go and meet these people for herself. It seemed that a wedding guide would ease the daunting task of organising the occasion, so she invited the owners of these services to form a wedding guide, which Carole called "The Association of Professional Wedding Services" with the mission statement:
“Our Association brings together a community of
like minded professionals with a
commitment to providing a personal and reliable quality wedding service”
The first edition was printed in April 1992 and very quickly the brides
getting married in 1992/3 had started to call it "The Pink Book" - as you can see,
it still is.
Since 1992 the range of services has been extended, again ever mindful of customers' wishes. The services in "The Pink Book" are there only on recommendation and their own professional merit. We hope you find these web pages helpful and look forward to meeting you. We would also like to take this opportunity of wishing you every happiness for your future together.
